I would have liked to ask him what model he bought 20 years ago and what it is that fascinates him so much about this timepiece that he decided to stick with it, being it in several variations of the famous octagonal design by Genta.
If it’s interesting enough, perhaps Audemars Piguet can include an interview with Franco Gussalli Beretta in their upcoming catalogue as they did with Bruno Rubinski in 1999/2000 and inspire new potential customers. Just my $0.02 of course.
One of the deciding factors when I purchase a new handbag is whether or not the bag is functional. If I can’t fit all my ‘stuff’ (which sometimes can include the kitchen sink) in it, then what is the point of paying upwards of $1000 for the bag? As you can see, the weather was cloudy and we only had some sun rays on friday. However,man watch, we were inside the BaselWorld building anyway. The first day of Basel was overwhelming. BaselWorld is so big and so crowded, I really had the feeling that I hadn’t see anything at the end of the day. Friday we were packed with appointments with brands like Blancpain, Glash?ɬ�tte Original, Jean Dunand and Jaquet Droz. We only had little time to wander around to see all the watches we wanted to see. However, I did meet for the first time with the Gr?ɬ?nefeld brothers and got a nice introduction on their GMT06 watch (and had a few beers with them later on that day). We also teamed up with the people of a Dutch magazine called Watching and got invited for a nice diner organized by Nomos.
On of my personal highlights of BaselWorld 2009 was the introduction of the new Omega Speedmaster Professional 40th Anniversary edition by former Apollo astronauts (Aldrin, Duke, Schmitt, Cernan and Stafford) on saturday around noon.
Omega also displayed some of their Speedmasters, used by the astronauts in the 1960s and 1970s. These watches are normally part of their museum watches (which is located in Biel, Switzerland).
Another high light was our meeting with Maitres du Temps,cheap wholesale designer handbags, the introduction of their Chapter Two watch by Steven Holtzman and an unexpected interview with master watchmakers Roger Dubuis and Daniel Roth. More on that in our detailed report later on.
I also was pleasantly surprised by the product knowledge meeting of Glash?ɬ�tte Original, presented my Mr Meier, Managing Director of Glash?ɬ�tte Original. It was very easy-going, with a lot of humour and some old faces that were nice to see again. A big thank you to Mr Marx for the invitation!
One of my personal favorites are the SpidoLite and 3-Timer watches from Linde Werdelin. We had a great meeting with Aphrodite of Linde Werdelin in their booth, and discussed all new models in detail. Aphrodite / Linde Werdelin really took the time (which is scarce for exhibitors on BaselWorld) to talk with us about their watches and professional instruments.
Pictured above is the 3-Timer, which I really love! The dial pattern is amazing, and I love GMT watches. Below is their SpidoLite model (photo by Frank), with the Svend Anderson finished movement. I wrote an introduction article on the Spidolite here already, but will do a more detailed review on Linde Werdelin’s watches in the near future.
Last thing to mention here, is our unexpected interview with Bernhard Lederer of BLU (Bernhard Lederer Universe) and his wife. They introduced us to their brand and Mr. Lederer described the inner workings of the MT3 Tourbillon Watch.

A GTG (short for Get Together) organized by a few members of the Vintage Rolex Forum is always good for a lot of photographs of impressive watches and watch collections. Vintage Rolex Forum calls these GTGs ‘Passion’, because of the passion for vintage Rolex watches. Looking at the photos, the guys also share passion for cigars,watch rolex replica, bags and watch boxes.
Below you’ll see a Rolex ref.6200, a very nice vintage early ‘Submariner’ without the printing on the dial being a Sub. The gilt dial is very nice on this ‘experimental’ Submariner. Probably produced around 1955.
And this is not a Rolex, but being an AP fan and all, I though this might be worth posting here. An Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept on a mesh bracelet. Out of this world!

Ben summed it all up in his blog post and ends it with a great video that you really have to check out. The only thing that bothers me though,breitling fakes, is the following message on Hodinkee: “We are told that 80% of the jobs they receive come from other watchmakers who have tried to service a watch but simply can not, or have tried and actually damaged the mechanism in the process.”
So people, please make sure to really trust your watch maker or repair service and make sure they are up to the job. If not,leather purse handbag, you now know what to do.

Since the early days of my watch addiction (I admit), I am a sucker for the designs of Gerald Genta in the 1970s. Most of the time, I neglect the Vacheron and drool on pictures of ‘his’ Patek Philippe Nautilus, Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and IWC Ingenieur SL.
I always found it hard to get proper information and pictures of the Vacheron Constantin ’222′, nowadays known as the Vacheron Constantin Overseas. The ’222′ was the last icon that Gerald Genta designed in the 1970s, just one year after the Patek Philippe Nautilus 3700 and IWC Ingenieur SL 1832. However,cheap designer purses wholesale, yesterday I stumbled across the The Hour Lounge website, a Vacheron Constantin (where did the ‘et’ go?) discussion forum.

In this picture you see the ‘Jumbo’ versions of the Ingenieur SL, Royal Oak,italian leather bags supplier, Nautilus and ’222′. The in 1977 introduced ’222′ was limited to 500 pieces in stainless steel, 100 in gold and 120 in gold/steel combination. These watches were delivered in a nice leather box and included a money clip in the shape of the watch case.
The movement in the ’222′ is the VC 1120, based on the Jeager LeCoultre caliber 920 movement (but never used it in their own watches). The Royal Oak and the Nautilus also used iteration of this movement.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, I finally found a great article on the internet about the Vacheron Constantin ’222′, written by Leonardo of the The Hour Lounge forum. You can find the article by clicking this link. Someone should make a PDF of this article, just for safe keeping!

There is a gold version of the ’222′ currently up for sale at chrono24.com, from Italy in great condition (dates 1980) and will cost you 13.800 Euros. I don’t think the stainless steel version will go for very much less, in similar condition.
An interesting combination by Bell & Ross and Shaw Harley-Davidson. Shaw Harley-Davidson is the current world champion in modified Harley motorcycles and together with Bell & Ross, they present the one-off custom Nascafe Racer.
As my motorcycle knowledge is very limited (understatement), I hereby copy an excerpt of the Bell & Ross press release:
The methods used by Bell & Ross master watchmakers when developing and assembling their timepieces was employed by the Shaw Harley-Davidson master technicians when building the project bike, which is based on the Harley-Davidson® FXSTB Softail® Night Train, one of the more radical Softails – long, low and naked and named by Willie G. Davidson.
The motorcycle was totally stripped down to the last nut and bolt in the Speed & Custom workshop of the East Sussex dealership, and every detail was taken into account on the rebuild.
Using the BR 01 Carbon – the iconic time instrument produced by Bell & Ross – the Shaw Speed and Custom team mounted the timepiece in a handcrafted center console using a machined piece of aluminum. The watch mounting positioned the timepiece in the ideal place for its function as a professional tool for the rider. A combination of anodized blue,rolex submariner replica, carbon and stealth-like matte black custom paint was used on the bike to reflect the design of the timepiece.
“We wanted to mirror the Bell & Ross timepiece wherever we could on the motorcycle to ensure that the essence of the finished product was never compromised by superfluous design or extraneous items,” said Steve Willis, Shaw Harley-Davidson Sales Director and Head of the Speed & Custom design wing of the dealership.
“We were immediately excited by this project,” explains Bruno Belamich,wiss replica rolex, Designer and Co-founder of Bell & Ross. “We identify with the values portrayed by Harley-Davidson, values that we share such as the search for the extreme, adventure and precision.”

John Holbrook, owner of Luxurytyme and the Watch Talk Forums, is renown for his great write-ups on watches, especially Rolex watches. John wrote an excellent review on the current stainless steel Rolex Daytona model, ref.116520. Giving some history on the Daytona models, technical information about its automatic chronograph chronometer movement (caliber 4130) and his own view on ‘owning a Daytona’ and whether it will be a safe ‘investment’ in this uncertain financial era. Will the value and demand return when our economy improves again?
